gbaDesuYo! Terms of Service
Last updated: September 29, 2026
A Note from the Developer
Hi there! gbaDesuYo! is independently built and maintained by one developer. I want to be open and honest about how the app works, what you get when you make a purchase, and what I can realistically promise. Please read these terms carefully. These terms describe the conditions for using gbaDesuYo!
Your Games
gbaDesuYo! does not include any games. You play only the games you add yourself, and you are responsible for having the right to use every game you add.
gbaDesuYo! is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo. Game Boy Advance is a trademark of Nintendo. Game titles, artwork, and music belong to their respective owners.
Songs and game files you export or save are copies made from the games you added, for your own personal use only. Please don't pass them on to others. Their music belongs to its respective owners.
Soundtrack Export
Soundtrack export saves the music of a game you added as audio (WAV) or as note data (MIDI), in a folder you choose. Save to Files does the same for a game file. Both exist for one purpose: using the music and games you own on your own devices.
Please use it only this way:
- Export only from a game you are entitled to play, such as a copy of your own cartridge. Private-copy rules do not cover music from a game downloaded without the rights holder's permission.
- Keep your exports and saved files for yourself. Don't give, send, upload, sell, or publish them to other people. That is why gbaDesuYo! has no share button and saves exports only in a folder you pick.
- Don't use exports in videos, streams, or your own productions. That needs permission from the music's rights holders.
Why Export Exists
Export and Save to Files exist so you can move your own files to your own computer and devices, for example to keep working with a song or a game there.
You add the games yourself, and Save to Files copies that same file, unchanged and named after the game, into a folder you pick. You could already copy the original from the Files app or wherever you keep it, so it adds nothing new. I do not supply, create, or change any game.
A song is made on your device from your own game, for you, and saved only in a folder you pick. gbaDesuYo! does not find, provide, host, or distribute games or music, and it cannot see what you export or where it goes.
I built them for personal use only, and I do not condone any other use, including giving games or music to other people. I thought about how they could be misused, so they stay simple: gbaDesuYo! never uploads your games or music by itself. They leave your device only when you choose it, through Export, Save to Files, or the optional Sync with iCloud, which keeps them in your own iCloud.
If you are a rights holder, or you believe any part of gbaDesuYo!, including Export or Save to Files, breaks a rule or a right I was not aware of, please write to me through the Contact page. I will read it promptly and, where it is justified, change or switch off the feature.
The Emulator
gbaDesuYo! plays your games on its own emulator, which I wrote from scratch. Everything in it, from the processor to the graphics, sound, and saves, is my own work. It contains no code from mGBA or from any other emulator.
gbaDesuYo! is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to mGBA or its developers. mGBA is a well-respected open-source Game Boy Advance emulator. I studied how it works and compared gbaDesuYo!'s results with it.
I did my best to make it accurate, fast, and light on your battery, and I will keep improving it.
What Costs Money and What Does Not
gbaDesuYo!'s core features are not locked behind a purchase. This includes adding and playing your games, saving your progress, browsing and searching your library, listening to soundtracks, exporting supported songs for your own personal use, favorites, pinned items, and on-device station creation.
The gbaDesuYo! Shop offers three one time purchases:
- The EQ Preset Pack unlocks every built-in EQ preset.
- The Reverb Preset Pack unlocks all of the built-in reverb presets.
- The Synthesizer Pack unlocks 29 voices for supported sequenced soundtrack notes.
After the free trial, EQ presets, reverb presets, and synthesizer voices require their corresponding packs. These effects can still be turned off without a purchase. Synthesizers work only with supported sequenced music; they do not turn recorded audio or unsupported sound engines into instrument notes.
The Free Trial
The 30 day trial is a free one time in-app purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and nothing is charged when it ends. It temporarily unlocks the built-in EQ and reverb presets and the synthesizer voices of the three paid sound packs.
When the 30 days are up, trial-only presets you have not purchased lock again. If a selected preset is no longer available, that effect returns to its neutral or off state. Trial expiry does not affect your games, progress, library, or any pack Apple still reports as owned.
The trial can be started once per Apple Account and cannot be reset or restarted.
Purchases & Ownership
When you buy a sound pack:
- It is a one time purchase through Apple. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
- A purchased pack stays unlocked when your trial ends. Apple confirms your ownership. Refunded or revoked purchases may no longer be available.
- The purchase is linked to your Apple Account. Use Restore Purchases with the same account to recover eligible purchases.
- Apple processes payments. gbaDesuYo! does not receive your card or billing details.
Refunds
For purchases made through the App Store, refund requests and eligibility are handled by Apple under its policies and applicable law. You can submit a request through Apple's website:
If Apple refunds or revokes a purchase, access to what it unlocked may be removed.
If something is not working the way it should, please contact me first. I would much rather fix the problem than have you go away unhappy.
Updates & Improvements
gbaDesuYo! may change as it is updated, including its appearance and how existing features work. Any updates or changes remain subject to your rights under applicable consumer law.
Feedback & Flexibility
I am always happy to hear from you. If you feel something is unfair, have a suggestion, or something is not working the way you expected, please reach out through the Contact page.
I will do my best to be flexible and find solutions. That said, I cannot promise I will agree with or implement every suggestion. I have to balance many factors including technical limitations, time, and the needs of all users.
Constructive dialogue is always welcome. Let's talk.
Why This All Matters
I built gbaDesuYo! because I love Game Boy Advance games and their music, and wanted an app that felt just right. Every feature, every animation, every carefully tuned sound setting came from genuine passion.
But passion does not pay the bills. Keeping the app updated, responding to feedback, and adding new features takes real time.
These terms exist because I need a sustainable model to keep developing. I want to keep releasing new things. I want to keep improving what exists. I want gbaDesuYo! to be around for years to come.
Your support, whether through purchases, feedback, or simply using the app, means the world to me. Thank you for understanding.
About Translations
gbaDesuYo! offers nine app language choices, but I only check the English text for accuracy. Other translations may be incomplete or imperfect, and newer text may appear in English when a translation is not available. If you spot something that does not look right, feel free to let me know through the Contact page.
